Hollytree Therapy Centre Darlington

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK AN APPOINTMENT.

Massage, Aromatherapy & Reflexology are all gentle & effective treatments that help to bring balance to both the body & the mind.
They are also very potent treatments & because of this there are some medical conditions that need to be handled with care & with the specific agreement of the medical practitioner. If you suffer from Asthma or Angina please bring your medication. Before you come for your treatment it is best not to eat anything more than a light snack up to three hours beforehand. Alcohol should be avoided before a treatment

When you make an appointment any special health needs that you have may be discussed. Alternatively you can book a free short appointment with me to discuss your treatment. All information is treated as confidential. If you need to cancel an appointment at least 24 hours notice is required.

If possible arrange for someone to drive you home so that you can maintain the relaxation after your treatment.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?

So that your treatment is right for you as an individual you will be asked a range of questions about your general health & lifestyle.
Complementary therapies work well because they treat the whole person – not just their symptoms.
During massage only the area of your body that is being worked on will be uncovered. You will be kept warm & covered by towels. You dress & undress in complete privacy & underclothes are kept on. No pain should be experienced during treatment & you will be asked to tell the therapist immediately if you feel any discomfort. The whole experience should be pleasant & relaxing.
Your treatment will be carried out on an adjustable couch, which can be raised & lowered electrically as necessary. Should it not be possible for you to get onto the couch because of limited mobility or pregnancy massage can be carried out in a comfortable seated position
When the treatment is completed you are advised to rest for five minutes. It is also important to drink some water because this helps to flush away toxins released from the body’s tissues.
